Réalisateur, scénariste, acteur, et producteur (ça ne vous rappelle rien, non, ce n'est pas de Tsui Hark qu'il s'agit, mais belle et bien du flatulent Wong Jing). Ce véritable touche à tout, self made man et grand visionnaire (commercialement parlant) est né à Hong Kong en 1956. Celui-ci est tombé très jeune dans le chaudron magique du cinéma puisqu'il est le fils d'un ancien metteur en scène Wang Tianlin. Malgré des hautes études littéraires (il possède une licence de lettres), le jeune Wong Jing s'orientera vers l'audio-visuel en débutant sa carrière à la télévision où il participera à plusieurs séries TV à succès comme "C.I.D." ou "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly". Il émigra vers le cinéma en 1978, date à laquelle il écrivit son premier véritable script : "Cunning Tendancy", un thriller sur les jeux de Chen Kwai Tai (sa future destinée était déjà toute tracée !). Son travail est reconnu (The Magnificent Butcher et Dreadnaugth, deux films de la série Wong Fei Hong avec le vétéran Kwan Tak-hin dont il a écrit les scénarii sont deux chefs d'oeuvre ayant connu un gros succès) et il peut donc diriger son premier film : Challenge of the Gamesters, suivi de quelques comédies oubliées. Son premier succès d'estime sera Magic Crystal, mais c'est sans nul doute possible l'incroyable triomphe au box office de God of Gamblers qui propulsera la fusée Wong Jing en orbite (et dans orbite, il y a "or" et il y a b.... : deux mots qui résument bien le personnage !). La suite, vous la connaissez : visionnaire et grand businessman, il sait découvrir les filons qui vont marcher et n'hésitent pas à tarir la source en nivelant la qualité de la production par le bas (ce dont beaucoup de gens de la profession lui fait grand reproche). Il  sera ainsi à l'origine de la série des films de jeux, des films d'arnaqueurs, des films de triades pour djeunz, des films jeux vidéo... Maintenant dénigré par ses pairs, par des réalisateurs dits intellectuels, par certains acteurs et actrices, par des journalistes qui refusent de constater l'incroyable succès public, Wong Jing continue sa barque contre vents et marées. Il est toujours à l'affût du moindre futur désir encore inconscient de son auditoire. Certes, le résultat est quelquefois (souvent ?) déplorable, mais parfois, entre deux bouses pousse la petite fleur multicolore et délicieusement odorante qui saura se faire distinguer. Vous en doutez !!! Eh bien, parcourez cette filmographie qui suit (obligatoirement sélective vue l'appétit cinématographique pantagruélique du bonhomme !) et vous verrez que vous allez y retrouver plusieurs de ses films qui ont fait le bonheur d'une de ces formidables soirées HK.
